Born on August 18, 1978, in Taipei, Taiwan, Chen immigrated to the United States with his family at the age of 15. He attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he studied computer science. After graduating, Chen embarked on a career in technology, working for companies like PayPal and Facebook before striking out on his own. In 2005, Chen, along with Chad Hurley and Jawed Karim, co-founded YouTube. The website allowed users to upload, share, and view videos, growing rapidly in popularity and becoming a dominant platform for online video content. In 2006, Chen and his co-founders sold YouTube to Google for a staggering $1.65 billion in stock. After the acquisition, Chen remained with YouTube for several years, serving as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) until leaving in 2009. Following his departure from YouTube, Chen went on to explore other entrepreneurial ventures, including launching a travel startup called AVOS Systems and investing in various tech projects.
