Ted W. Lieu is a Taiwanese-American politician and attorney. He was born on March 29, 1969. Originally from Taiwan, Lieu immigrated to the United States with his family when he was three years old. He grew up in Ohio and graduated from Stanford University with a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He then went on to earn a Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University Law Center.
Lieu began his political career in the California State Assembly, representing the 53rd district from 2005 to 2011. He then served in the California State Senate, representing the 28th district from 2011 to 2014. In 2014, Lieu was elected to the United States House of Representatives, where he represents California's 33rd congressional district.
Lieu is known for his progressive positions and activism on a variety of issues, including climate change, civil liberties, and criminal justice reform. He has been a vocal critic of the Trump administration and has consistently advocated for transparency and accountability in government. As a member of the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community, Lieu has had a significant impact on Asian Americans, serving as a role model and advocate for their representation and rights in politics and society.
