Tsai Chin, born on September 1, 1933, is a distinguished Chinese actress, singer, director, teacher, and author. Widely recognized for her role as Auntie Lindo in "The Joy Luck Club," her career spans over six decades and three continents. Born to Peking opera actor Zhou Xinfang, she trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and earned a master's degree at Tufts University in Boston. Chin's diverse career includes Broadway and West End performances, Bond films, and collaborations with renowned directors. She became the first acting instructor invited to teach in China post-Cultural Revolution. Her autobiography, "Daughter of Shanghai," became a best-seller, and her recent work includes acclaimed roles in "The Joy Luck Club" and the TV drama series "The Dream of Red Mansions."
